INTERVIEW - At a time when the French National Authority for Health is advocating free access to gender transition for all, from the age of 16, Céline Masson and Caroline Eliacheff, authors of La Fabrique de l'enfant-transgenre (The Factory of the Transgender Child), warn of the risks of such measures, in the absence of reliable studies on the effects of puberty-blocking hormones or hormone treatments.


LE FIGARO. - Among its recommendations, the HAS warns healthcare professionals against seeing a request for transition as a manifestation of a psychiatric disorder. ‘Gender identity should not be the subject of a specific psychiatric assessment’. What does this mean?
