Trans minors controversy: "Criticism is part of the debate, but lynching is not"

The work of psychoanalyst Céline Masson and child psychiatrist Caroline Eliacheff on transgender children has aroused the ire of LGBT rights associations, to the extent that some of their speeches have had to be canceled under pressure. In this text, they defend the need for a social debate on this subject.

Attempts to silence those with allegedly "illegitimate" opinions are known as "cancel culture", a form of socialized lynching carried out by screen-based electronic packs, who disfigure their target with infamous tweets and slurs. The term "cancel culture" was coined in the USA to describe the actions of militant groups who discredit a target with coordinated digital salvos - "sociodrones" (1) - on social networks to destroy his or her reputation.
