Our society is riven by a variety of identity claims, leading to debates that are not easy to venture into, but which are nonetheless necessary, particularly when we defend the idea that living in a community sometimes requires indifference to differences.
It's in this context that one of the most revealing phenomena of these demands has emerged: sudden requests for a sex change in the name of feelings, also known as "transidentity". It is on social networks, which privilege emotions and immediate expression, that feelings find the conditions for their amplification and a certain empathic resonance. Feelings can be shared and immediately communicated via this highly sensitive medium. Trans-identity" is part of a new dominant passion in our democratic societies, namely "ressentism"[1], whose victimhood variant reinforces this posture of claiming identity.
